HTC U11 Snapdragon 835 5.5 Inch QHD Display – Next HTC Flagship

HTC U11 Snapdragon 835 5.5 Inch QHD Display – Next HTC Flagship – HTC has been off the radar for a long time now, especially after the increase in popularity for Chinese brands. Last year’s HTC 10 was a good phone but was not sold as the company expected. Earlier this year, HTC launched the HTC U Ultra, it’s first flagship phone for 2017.

Recently, the company has sent out media invites for an event for 16 May 2017 and leaks claim that the company will launch its second flagship phone of the year.  HTC has added the prefix U to the smartphone name instead of going with “HTC 11”.

It is interesting to see this new trend that most companies are looking to launch 2 Flagship devices in a year or have 2 different type of devices as flagship. LG has the LG G6 and will launch the LG V30 this year. Samsung has S8, S8+ and will also launch a Note 8.

iPhone and Pixel already come in two variants. Xiaomi also has the Mi 6 and will launch a new Mi Mix 2. OnePlus has OnePlus 3 and 3T. The point is lot of companies are finding value and customers at the high end range who are looking for different features of screen sizes to opt for a flagship. One size fit all approach is not working and companies are offering more choices.

HTC is also joining this trend and probably for the coming years will run with 2 Flagship models.

Evan Blass, the famous and reliable tipster, one week ago said that the phone would be called as HTC U with codename Ocean.

Everyone believed that the HTC is making its flagship phone name yet again and Blass, a couple of days ago said that the phone would come with codename Ocean, but the name will be called as HTC U11 with high-end specifications.

HTC U11 Design – HTC is likely to launch the device with shiny glass and Metal design this year as per the above leaked render. HTC will move away from the traditional pure metal build designs which have been a signature style for the HTC phones. HTC has used a similar design language in the recently launched HTC U Ultra.

The front side will have the home button while the neat rear back will have a single camera.

For now, the high-end specs in the phone include a 5.5-inch Quad HD display (2560*1440) with not so fancy design as the LG G6 or Samsung Galaxy S8. The display will come with a pixel density of 533 PPI.

The HTC U11 might be powered by the Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip, paired with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. HTC is still looking at 4 GB of RAM instead of 6 GB RAM in its phone.

Same as the HTC U Ultra, the HTC U11 won’t feature the 3.5 mm headphone jack and will use the Type-C port for audio transmission. The forthcoming U 11 might pack a 16 MP front-facing camera along with a 12 MP primary camera.

There are no details regarding the battery capacity to be used on the phone, but it will boot Android 7.1 Nougat with HTC Sense Companion Artificial Intelligence on top.

A couple of images were also posted by Blass, which shows a glossy back design and the glass might be the Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

Even though the phone packs incredible features on rumored paper, it will be definitely let down by an insane price tag. HTC will launch the HTC U11 on 16 May 2017. Stay Tuned to Candytech for more details on the upcoming HTC flagship phone.
